Jeremy Schonfeld is a singer/songwriter and musical theater composer/lyricist - He'll even act when they let him! After attending both Indiana University’s School of Music in Bloomington and Berklee College of Music in Boston, Jeremy Moved to NYC to join the prestigious BMI Lehman-Engel Musical Theater Workshop. His first full-length musical premiered at the Dubliner Theater in Washington D.C in May of 1994. More recently, Jeremy was proud to have premiered the concert reading of “Drift” (with collaborator Craig Pospisil) in this year’s NY Musical Theater Festival, and even prouder of the incredibly enthusiastic response it received. Jeremy is also a founding composer/lyricist for the incredible A-Train Musicals, recently showcased in the NY Musical Theater Festival and this past spring at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater on 42nd Street. His musical "The Dead Wives Club" has picked up considerable interest and is slated to begin workshopping in 2006. Other recent projects include,"Ministry of Progress" at the Jane Street Theater (composer/lyricist), "Home" at the Minetta Lane (composer/lyricist/book), and “Letters to Katrina” (contributing songwriter/performer).
As a recording artist, Jeremy released "Drift", the original concept album on which the musical is based, with Sh-K-Boom records in 2003. Previously, Jeremy independently released “Blue Skies and All” a two-CD box of his original songs recorded between 1995-99. Performances include opening for James Taylor at the MARS Amphitheater in Florida, Lincoln Center, the Kaufman Center, Symphony Space, CBGBs, Southpaw (also the rock club’s only right-handed owner), Joe's Pub (the Public Theater), and The Zipper Theater, where Jeremy additionally served as associate producer for the Unzipped Concert Series.
As a versatile studio pro, Jeremy has written, performed, and produced with such artists as Shoshana Bean (Wicked), Sara Ramirez(Spamalot), and Jeremy Kushnier(Rent). Recent jingle performances include NY Lotto (TV and radio), Modell’s (TV and radio) and Sprint PCS (2006 National TV spot). He and partner Dave Swanson (Blues Traveler, Public Enemy, Ute Lemper) created 6/4 Productions, working specifically on projects with artists and film/TV. In a very recent and exciting new development, Jeremy with partners Ryan Paternite and Jonelle Fenton signed a development deal with Glowcast Ventures to create a new reality television program based
on Songwriting.
Jeremy lives in Brooklyn with his Kiwi wife Sarah-Jane, sassy daughter Alexandra, and hyper dog Byron.
