CRAIG POSPISIL is the author of the award-winning plays Months on End, Somewhere in Between and the collection Life is Short, which are published by Dramatists Play Service. Months on End received its world premiere at Jeff Daniels’ Purple Rose Theater Company, and has since had dozens of productions around the country as well as in Australia and Hong Kong. Somewhere in Between premiered at the Detroit Repertory Theater and has over sixty productions, including ones in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Australia and France. His new play The Dunes recently won Theatre Conspiracy's New Play Contest and will be produced in Florida in April 2007. He and composer Jeremy Schonfeld are currently completing work on the new musical Drift, which was produced as part of the 2006 New York Musical Festival.
Craig is head writer and associate producer for theAtrainplays, New York’s acclaimed twenty-four hour theatre project, and his Atrainplays It's Not You and Tourist Attraction are published by Playscripts Inc., and have been translated into Chinese for An Anthology of Contemporary American Short Plays from the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press in Beijing.
Other publications include On the Edge in Under Thirty: Plays for a New Generation, It's Not You in the anthology Take Ten II: New Ten Minute Plays, Guerilla Gorilla in the anthology Plays and Playwrights 2001, and A Picture Hook in Monologues for Men by Men. His short plays Perchance, On The Edge, Infant Morality, Tourist Attraction and What Price? will be included in the upcoming Best Ten Minute Plays 2006 collections. Craig’s plays On the Edge, Infant Morality, Put Asunder and The Subway were also produced for radio broadcast by Stage Shadows Productions at the Museum of Television and Radio in New York.
Craig's work has been seen at Ensemble Studio Theatre, Bay Street Theater, Williamstown Theatre Festival, New York Musical Festival, Pulse Ensemble, Vital Theater, West Coast Ensemble and the Caldwell Theater, and has been performed in Australia, Canada, England, France, Germany and Hong Kong. His plays have been translated into French and Cantonese. He is the editor of Outstanding Men’s Monologues Vol. 1 and Outstanding Women’s Monologues Vol. 1. A native New Yorker, Craig received his Masters from New York University’s Dramatic Writing Department, and he is a member of the Dramatists Guild. He lives in New York with the actress and producer Jane Petrov.
